The Austin Area Commission for the Arts envisions a vibrant and successful community enriched by diverse arts, entertainment and cultural activities.
The Austin Area Commission for the Arts (AACA) is an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The AACA envisions a vibrant and successful community enriched by diverse arts, entertainment, and cultural activities. We will accomplish this vision through our mission to identify, engage, and support the development and advancement of diverse arts, entertainment, and cultural activities that benefit people in Austin and the surrounding area.
The AACA currently oversees two major programs: the Historic Paramount Theatre and the Austin ArtWorks Festival. By the mid-August we are planning to add another program with the opening of the Austin ArtWorks Center, a space for our creative community to learn, create, display, and perform.
We use the Historic Paramount Theatre as a venue to present our community with high quality performing artists. We also make the space available to the Austin community and surrounding area for local performing arts events. While accomplishing these activities we are committed to maintaining the theatre's status on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Austin ArtWorks Festival is a two day event at the end of August that celebrates the visual, performing, and literary artists from our area. It is hosted in the Historic Downtown Power Plant.
