The Austin Area Commission for the Arts seeks a part-time Retail Associate to join our mission of advancing of diverse arts, entertainment, and cultural activities for our community. The Retail Associate’s primary work site is the Austin ArtWorks Center at 300 North Main Street in Downtown Austin. 10-15 hours per week, evening and Saturday availability required. Paid training provided.

Major duties, tasks, and responsibilities:

  • Ensure excellent customer experience
  • Assist and support the retail manager in ensuring smooth retail operations
  • Greet customers courteously and ring up purchases on the POS system
  • Assist customers to register for classes, become a member or purchase tickets
  • Help customers find the item they desire to purchase
  • Prepare, total, and verify billings and collect correct payments from customers
  • Execute clerical functions accurately and consistently for record keeping and inventory
  • Create, maintain and clean attractive merchandise displays
  • Follow opening and closing procedures including balancing cash registers
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Comfortable working alone as needed
  • 3 years experience being responsible for reconciling a cash drawer and securing daily deposits in a safe in a retail environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years experience with retail protocols and procedures
  • 1-3 years experience in store display organization
  • 1-3 years experience providing customer service
  • 5 years experience daily use of a computer interface
